Signed lower right 65 x 50 cm --- ISTHME - Isabelle THOMAS, born 1963 Isabelle Thomas is French-Canadian, living and working between Nantes and Morgat. Isthme has two passions: painting and sailing, which she has pursued in parallel for over twenty years. Her sailing trips along the Breton coast, but also in the Atlantic and Pacific, are her main source of artistic inspiration. Her latest series of canvases and collages, entitled Nuits en mer and Entre bleus, embody sensitive memories of nights spent at sea aboard sailing ships. She has perfected the vibratory "blue" that now characterizes her work, using a transparent, semi-dark red lacquer and a blue-outremer. Blue luminescent material effects of great intensity emerge from large canvases and collages. Isthme makes monochromes vibrate like pure asceticism.
