Description
Mathieu LE GUERN, born 1985 Avel tan, 2024 Brazzero in oxidized-cut corten steel sheet, rolled and welded. Unique, unsigned piece. Height: 39 cm - Diameter: 50 cm - Thickness: 3 mm --- Mathieu LE GUERN, born 1985 Born in Brest, after studying product design in Brest and Paris (Ecole Boulle), Mathieu Le Guern worked for six years as a furniture and layout designer at Ateliers Male gol (Lannion). Krank Du (the black crab) was born after a year of learning the Breton language. Krank Du is a "Breton Swiss Army Knife" combining design, graphics, photography and poetry for associations and companies based in Brittany. With the idea of drawing inspiration from yesterday to imagine what tomorrow will be like, the crab questions the graphic identities of Brittany, delving as much into books and museums as into the woods and between the rocks. For the event, Mathieu Le Guern created Avel Tan (fire wind), a brazier made of corten steel. The steel's oxide coating provides long-lasting protection and warmth. The double concentric spirals symbolize the combined forces and energies of wind and fire. The motif is loosely inspired by the embroidery found in some of the Breton costumes of southern Finistère, as well as by the ornamentation on Breton furniture.
