Lou GOUAILLE, born 1999 Euphrosyne, Collection Vestige, Nantes - 2024 Amphora in "basalt", a material of ash bound with beeswax, hot-modeled. Signed below 26 x 26 x 44 cm --- Lou GOUAILLE, born 1999 Lou Gouaille's participation in Ar Seiz Avel is motivated by a shared vision of craftsmanship and an aim to support ecological issues through her Cendrillon project. Indeed, by setting up a value chain, she defends the idea that there are frugal and healthy alternatives. She also attaches great importance to the transparency of her manufacturing methods and the ingredients she uses. She believes that, in order to raise public awareness, it is essential for artisans and designers to educate the public so that they can better understand the issues at stake in the various stages of production and the roles of those involved. Her project is also part of a local dynamic. As part of her ash harvest, she calls on private individuals to collect the material from their homes. These ashes come from various combustions (stoves, chimney fires, barbecues) and are highly variable. In fact, their composition depends on the type of wood burnt, and each fireplace is different, creating its own mix. So each ash is unique and the result of local resources. What's more, part of the company's research is now also focused on sourcing binders, so that they too are part of a coherent environmental approach. By way of example, she has approached amateur beekeepers in the Rennes region who don't use much of the wax they produce, so she can recover it to bind her products, as shown by these three amphorae specially designed for Ar Seiz Avel.
