Signed HÉRÉKÉ silk carpet (Asia Minor), 3rd third of the 20th century Dimensions : 93 x 64cm. Technical features: Silk velvet on silk backing. A Christ on the cross is enthroned in the center of a cream field, surrounded by floral scrolls and birds. A hanging shrine lamp towers above him. The main chestnut border, with its luxuriant, overflowing vegetation, is embellished by two winged angels emerging from celadon corollas, two shells containing two deer, two birds in flight, two canines and, more surprisingly, two giraffes. Large celadon blooming corolla at base. Turquoise counter-border with garlands of flowers. Kilims with flower flecks in relief and signed cartouche. Beautiful and rare religious motif.
