Paul Mathieu de nacionalidade Belga nasceu em Bruxelas em 1953. Radicado em Portugal desde 1979 desenvolveu um trabalho notável no campo das artes plásticas, tendo um público fiel e apreciador cada vez mais numeroso. Vários críticos de arte escreveram sobre as suas obras: Eurico Gonçalves, Margarida Botelho, Lurdes Ferias, Edgardo Xavier, Rodriguez Vaz e Lina Cruz-Pinto. Realizou mais de 40 exposições individuais, em 2008 - “30 anos de pintura, antológica” no Museu da Agua Lisboa. Obteve 3 prémios de arte e está representado em muitas coleções públicas e privadas como também em 9 museus nacionais. Tem duas tapeçarias das suas obras executadas pela manufatura de Tapeçaria de Portalegre e editou um livro da sua autoria “Paul Mathieu, Artista Plástico, Uma Escolha de Vida”.
