He is passionate about contemporary and naive art. In 1986, he bought and restored a medieval house in Saint-Antoine l'Abbaye, Isère.

He was director of the restoration workshop for national museum paintings at the Musée du Louvre. In 1956, he participated in the restoration of the Mona Lisa. A tribute exhibition to this artist has been organized from June 25 to September 18, 2022 at the Maison Poussou museum in Bruniquel (Tarn-et-Garonne).
