Meissen Pair of Cupids from the "L-Series" "Cupid in the Trap "and "Cupid, turning a long nose", designed by Heinrich Schwabe 1877-1880, underglaze blue pommel marks 1860-1924, 1st choice resp. once with underline, incised model number L.120., moulding number 31 and painter's number 7. resp. model number L.125, moulding number 101 and painter's number 57, naturalistic design with polychrome overglaze painting and gold staffage, nude standing above a column base on a terrain with tree stump or cloth support. The nude boy with wings and a quiver suspended from his head, one angel stepping with one foot into a bear trap while picking flowers, the other holding both hands gesticulating in front of his nose, one hand and the base with old restorations, the bouquet of flowers of the other boy chipped, h 19.5 and 20.5 cm. Antonin Mara, small pheasant 1st half 20th century, signed MARA, dark green patinated bronze, naturalistic depiction of a pheasant, on a diamond-shaped onyx base with rounded top, in good condition for age, h bronze 5.5 cm, h total 8 cm, l total 14 cm. Artist information: Czech sculptor (1877 - 1947), son of the woodcarver Václav Mára, studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague under Klouček, later under Sucharda and Jenewein, travelled abroad to France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, England and the Nordic countries, active in Vienna from 1903, where he received commissions for the sculptural decoration of the new court palace and the Museum of Art and Industry in Magdeburg under the direction of the architect Ohmann, also produced medals and small sculptures, from 1909 back in Bohemia, until 1930 as a professor at the State Industrial School of Sculpture and Stonemasonry in Hořice, worked as a colleague of Novák, from 1920 created important designs for new Czechoslovak coins, in the post-war period mainly monuments, but also some portraits and busts. PIERLUIGI SPADOLINI (Florence, 1922-2000). Coffee table, 1970s. Marble. It has slight damage consistent with use and age. Measurements: 40 x 202 x 79 cm. This table presents a light design, with geometric roots and clean straight lines, softened by curved angles, typical of the Italian design of the 70s. It consists of a rectangular top with a convex interior and sturdy T-shaped legs. Italian architect and designer, Pierluigi Spadolini was the brother of politician Giovani Spadolini, several times Minister of the Republic and Head of Government in 1981 and 1982. He was one of the leading experts in the field of industrialized construction, module design, yacht and panel construction in architecture. In 1962 he joined the faculty of the ISIA in Florence directed by Angelo Maria Landi. Among his best known works we can mention the Headquarters of La Nazione (1961 - 1965), the Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence (1974), the Spadolini Pavilion in the Fortezza da Basso (1974 - 1976) - which takes his name - and the Palace of Justice in Turin (1994-1998).
