First edition of this historical précis published just after the conquest of Algiers, reporting the main events and documents from the preparations for the operation to the capture of Algiers in July 1830. One of the first books devoted to the conquest of Algeria, by Baron Denniée, intendant en chef de l'armée d'expédition. He left Algiers in August 1830 due to ill health. In-4 oblong, calligraphic title framed by orientalizing scrolls, 16 handwritten plates (including 13 watercolors in color), [5] blank ff., red half-chagrin, smooth mute spine (period binding). Covers, spine and corners damaged. A moving notebook of sketches and drawings by a soldier involved in the conquest of Algeria under the July Monarchy, about whom unfortunately nothing is known. The watercolors form a naïve work in which the demonstrative picturesque outweighs the documentary, but the whole undoubtedly constitutes one of the first private iconographies of certain places in Kabylia (details on request).
