A JAPANESE CERAMIC OBJECT BY URANISHI KENJI 浦西健司 (1973) A very large and abstract cookie stoneware sculpture by Kenji Uranishi 浦西健司 (1973), titled: 'Resurrection from Corruption'. Of an even light brown color. The non-uniform body features two openings issuing abstracted tubes, two oblong openings revealing the hollow interior and several crater-like protrusions. There are several firing cracks that add to the overall earthy appearance of this unusual artwork. Artist signature 'Kenji' incised to underside. Period: Japan/Australia -21st century. Dimensions: Height 23 cm, Length 78 cm, Depth 26 cm. In an excellent condition. Kenji Uranishi, born 1973, is a Japanese-born artist based in Australia. Inspired by Japanese ceramics, Kenji has exhibited extensively in Japan before moving to Australia in 2004. His work now combines traditional influences with contemporary elements, focusing on translucent white porcelain objects. Kenji's art has been showcased in public spaces and he has participated in artist residencies, including one in Arita, the birthplace of porcelain in Japan.
