Veneered doucine desk opening with a drawer, a flap and two leaves. It is adorned with an important decoration of flowering and leafy stems in rosewood frieze, surrounded by rosewood. The black leather-covered flap reveals six drawers and four compartments. The uprights are straight, the fronts are turned down, and stand on small cambered feet. Chased and gilded bronze trim: lock escutcheons, apron and sabots. Grey Saint-Anne marble top with corbin. Stamped: ROUSSEL (left rear jamb). Pierre ROUSSEL (1723-1782) cited Master in 1745. Paris. Order of St Anne 3rd Class with Swords Czarist Russia, black enamelled cross arms, in between golden flames, in the medallion obverse St Anne, reverse intertwined name cipher of the saint, the eyelet punched with 56 Zolotniki, dimensions 37 x 41 mm, G with ribbon, approx. 13.8 g, good condition, on single ribbon clasp.

French Gothic sculptor (active in the 13th/14th century, probably in Reims) St. Peter Wood (limewood?), carved; old polychrome paint and gilding. Full-length sculpture of the apostle standing on a small plinth in a floor-length robe reaching down to his visible feet, holding a book in his left hand and a key in his right hand as attributes. Sculpture composed for a display view, probably for a niche, an altar or in front of a column or pillar; the head with long, narrow, bearded face almost en face; the robe predominantly with vertically falling tubular or parallel folds, only the belly with angular folds. H. 82 cm. French sculptor active 13th/14th C. probably in Reims. Carved and polychrome painted wood (or limewod) sculpture of Saint Peter.
