[Manuscript] Letter from Cardinal Jacques Davy du Perron to Henri IV, April 5, 1607. Manuscript of 8p in-4, in Italian. Amazing period translation of the letter sent by Cardinal du Perron to Henri IV, now preserved at the BnF (BnF ms. fr. 18002 f° 92-99 v°). This letter is of key importance in the history of Henri IV's negotiations with the Papacy. In it, the Cardinal announces to the King that he had succeeded in rallying Paul V to the Cardinal de Joyeuse's views, and in getting him to abandon the Jesuit cause to allow his reconciliation with the Serenissima. Unfortunately, we do not know why this Italian translation was produced, or to whom it belonged. A work of verse.

Paris, Sébastien Cramoisy, 1628. 3 parts of [16] 168 179 pp. ; 69 [1] 107 pp. ; 127 [1 bl.] 115 [5] pp. bound in one volume in-4 ivory vellum, smooth spine with handwritten title, boards stamped with monastic fleur-de-lysées arms (period binding). General title in red and black. 5 engraved coats of arms in the text. Historical treatise on the House of Burgundy and its allied houses, divided into three parts, each of which is followed by proofs, for a total of six parts. André du Chesne (1584-1640, born in Touraine, was a geographer and historiographer to the King, author of historical works and genealogies of the great houses of the kingdom (Saffroy I, 10749). Handwritten bookplate "Ex bibl[ioteca] Fuliens[ium] Paris[iensis] S. Bernardi" (library of the royal monastery of Saint-Bernard des Feuillants in Paris), small black wet stamp of this monastery and handwritten mention "Ex dono autoris" on the title. Boards stamped with the monastery's fleur-de-lysées coat of arms. Early 19th c. handwritten bookplate on title page: "François-Charles-Antoine du Faure-Basillier acquis à Paris en 1805". A fine copy.

Central America - SAUSSURE (Henri de). Mexican antiquities. Le manuscrit du cacique. Genève, Aubert-Schuchardt, 1891. In-4 oblong, 8 pp. paperback, printed and illustrated cover. First edition, illustrated with a title and 17 color plates. This work is a copy of a pre-Columbian manuscript on a solar cult ritual discovered by Henri de Saussure during his trip to Mexico. Despite the mention of "1er fascicule", it was the only one published. Henri Louis Frédéric de Saussure was a Swiss entomologist and mineralogist. In 1854, together with a friend, Henri Peyrot, he undertook a voyage of exploration in Mexico and the West Indies, which lasted until 1856. A fine copy of this uncommon brochure. Some foxing on cover, pieces of adhesive on spine. Missing from the usual bibliographies.
