Right-hand glove. In fine yellow skin, embroidered on the top with three raised reinforcing ribs. T.B.E. Provenance : -Millon Robert sale, December 4, 1991, n°52 History: Coming from the Bertrand collections and listed in inventories as a glove of Emperor Napoleon I (sic), our glove, due to its size, probably belonged instead to Fanny DILLON, the wife of the great Marshal Bertrand. On September 16, 1808, General Count Bertrand married Élisabeth Françoise Dillon, known as Frances or Fanny, daughter of General Arthur Dillon and Laure Girardin de Montgérald, a Creole from Martinique and a second cousin of Empress Josephine, at the town hall in the 1st arrondissement. The religious wedding took place the following day in Saint-Leu at the home of Hortense de Beauharnais. The couple remained close-knit through thick and thin, including their exile from Helena.
