Description

Two locks of chestnut hair attributed to Emperor Napoleon I Under glass, on an ivory silk background, encircled by gilded brass. 11 x 9 cm. With history on back: "A lock of Emperor Napoleon I's hair from M.MEYER, a former master hairdresser attached to the Emperor's person who died in 1854. It was originally contained in an envelope bearing a red wax seal with the imperial coat of arms and the autograph inscription "à l'Impératrice Joséphine". This autograph relic was passed on by Madame Veuve Meyer to her grandson, Mr. Ferdinand NUTELSE, who was the first husband of my maternal aunt, who died in 1938. Paris July 1959. Dunois."
