Victor HUEN (1874-1939) "General Kellermann fils at the Battle of Quatre Bras on June 16, 1815." Large oil on canvas (restorations) 89 x 149 cm. Baguette frame decorated with laurel leaves. B.E. Provenance : -Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1913. History: "Take your cavalry, throw yourselves in the middle of the English. Crush them, go over their bellies! shouted Ney to Kellermann as he launched the charge of a thousand cuirassiers at the Carrefour des Quatre Bras. Kellermann had his horse killed beneath him, and had to return to the French lines clinging to the stirrup leathers of two of his men. Biography : Victor Huen (1874-1939) was an Alsatian painter, lithographer and illustrator specializing in military painting and uniformological illustration. He was notably involved in illustrating the uniformological map series Les uniformes du Premier Empire, directed by Commandant Eugène Louis Bucquoy.
