Rare wax seal of Marshal Philippe Henri de Ségur (1724-1801). In brass, with the coat of arms encircled by the collars of the King's orders on crossed fleur-de-lys batons. Turned wooden handle. 27 x 22 mm. Ht. 10 cm. B.E. Circa 1785. Biography : Philippe Henri, Marquis de SÉGUR, Marshal of France (1724-1801) Maréchal de camp (1749) then lieutenant-general (1760), he distinguished himself during the Seven Years' War. Secretary Secretary of State for War in 1780, then Marshal of France in 1783, he created a permanent corps of staff officers (1783) and completed Saint-Germain's reorganization.
