Beautiful silver award sword. Silver mounting. Pommel with a bust of King Henri IV on one side and the Staff of Asclepius on the other. Single-branch hilt decorated with foliage and adorned with a fleur-de-lys. Fusee enriched with foliage, decorated on one side with the great royal arms girded with the King's orders and on the other with a caduceus. Body knot adorned with a fleur-de-lys on the obverse. Donkey step and quillon decorated en suite. Beautiful ovoid keyboard with ovoid border decorated with lozenges and foliage, chased on the upper part with winged creatures holding lyres, fleur-de-lys and foliage; engraved on the underside with laurel friezes. Triangular blade engraved in thirds, with remnants of bluing and gold, "Donné par le Roi à l'occasion d" (the rest unengraved period). Leather scabbard (later) with two silver fittings, decorated with laurels, foliage and fleur-de-lys. Sting with melon ribs. Large Paris guarantee hallmark (1819-1838) and goldsmith's hallmark (possibly Etienne Vernaz). A.B.E. Restoration period.
