Guard with two bolted, upturned quillons. Yatagan-type blade, hallmarked, with two line-decorated silver fittings. Stingray-covered wooden scabbard (accident, stains and missing parts). E.M. Louis XVI period.

Strong, flat-backed, straight blade engraved "Peton Md fourbisseur à la tête noire rue des Carmes au coin de celle d'aumône à Rouen", counter-edged, hollow sides engraved with Cassaignard motifs. Brown leather scabbard with three embossed silver fittings (period repair to the bolt). A.B.E. circa 1760. Le Peton or Le Petin, harquebusier in Rouen between 1760 and 1790.
