MENIN Nicolas. Traité historique et chronologique du sacre couronnement des rois et des reines de France. Paris, Bauche et Pépingue, 1723; small in-8 contemporary marbled calf, gilded arms in the center of the boards, ornate ribbed spine, red parts, blue speckled edges. Very rare first edition, with an anonymous intaglio frontispiece. The work, by a member of the Parliament of Metz, describes the various stages of the coronation and contains an extensive account of Louis XV's coronation. According to Quérard, "it contains much research and erudition". Quérard, La France littéraire, VI, p. 41, erroneously gives the date 1722. A copy on which the Pavé de Vandeuvre family had its coat of arms affixed in the 19th century. The library of this northern family is said to have housed over 20,000 volumes. Engraved bookplates: Des Gannes de Saint-Didier, Roland Thibaut, Robert Thibaut.
