Ardébil rug (cotton warp and weft, wool pile), Northwest Persia, circa 1960-1980 147 x 100 cm The rug is based on a Chirvan (Caucasus) carpet: the blue-gray background is enhanced by small geometric shrubs and polychrome geometric floral motifs. Probably Indian rug (cotton warp and weft, wool pile), last third of the 20th century. The rug is embellished with numerous large polychrome geometric flowers on a red background. A wide ivory border with geometric flower garlands surrounds the composition. 295 x 235 cm (Slight wear, discoloration and probably diminished).
