20K gold episcopal ring set with a faceted oval amethyst in a closed setting surrounded by old-cut diamonds. The finely chased ring is decorated with an angel overlooking a radiant cross in an oval frame. Gross weight: 29.90 g. - TDD: 63.5. History: This ring belonged to the Archbishop of Bologna, Monsignor Giacomo della Chiesa, who under the name of Benedict XV, was Pope of the Catholic Church from 1914 to 1922. Pope Benedict XV presented this ring to Monsignor Paul Bruchési, Archbishop of Montreal, on Monday April 21, 1919, during his last trip to Rome. Monsignor Bruchési presented the ring to the nuns of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame in 1938, probably in early July 1938. Exempted: art. 524 bis al. c.
