A HENAN BLACK GLAZED JAR, SONG DYNASTY A HENAN BLACK GLAZED JAR, SONG DYNASTY China, 960-1279. Heavily potted, the ovoid body surmounted by a short neck with a lipped rim, flanked by a pair of strap handles, covered overall in a thick lustrous black glaze accentuated with russet around the lip and handles, the glaze finely pooling and stopping irregularly around the center of the body, revealing the buff-colored ware. Provenance: British private collection. A noted French private collector, acquired from the above. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, light surface scratches, small chips to the foot ring, and firing flaws including firing cracks and pottery lines.
