Rare. - Alexandre Vuillemin (1812-1880) was a leading French cartographer and publisher of the 19th century. - The map is decorated throughout with pictorial vignettes of the most important buildings, bridges, trains and monuments. - Some browning and staining in margins due to paper, 1 segment with small hole, only occasional pale brown spots and verso somewhat stained. Overall well preserved. France - Engraved map in 32 linen backed segments. In cont. card slip case (with somewhat stronger traces of use). - Rare. - The map is decorated throughout with pictorial vignettes of the major buildings, bridges, trains and monuments. - Somewhat browned due to paper, slightly finger stained in the margins, 1 segment with pinhole, only sporadically with pale brown spots, stained on verso. Altogether well preserved.

In-12 square, red half-basane, smooth spine gold-stamped (period binding). Illustrated with a portrait of Lieutenant Sakurai, 2 fold-out maps and a sketch of Port-Arthur's fortifications. A good copy. Some handwritten annotations in Japanese. Small paper loss on one cover.
