Carved wooden figure. Bamileke culture. Cameroon. She is represented standing, with a dagger at her waist, a pectoral and a face with a long striated beard, open mouth and coffee bean eyes. It is a piece that commemorates a king, as demonstrated by the bracelets and his attire, exclusive signs of royalty. The royal Bamun statuary featured voluminous faces and bellies like that of this figure, which suggested the power and abundance of the royal figure. 20th century. 57cm high
