Small-format icon with St. Mitrofan of Voronezh and St. Tryphon. Russia 19th century. H 22 cm, W 17.2 cm. Egg tempera on chalk ground and gold leaf. Single panel of hardwood. Ornamental border, nimbus and gloriole finely engraved and punched. Cyrillic tituli. Fine painting with meticulous engraving and hallmarking! Excellent condition. Minor wear to the gold. Provenance: Ex private collection H.L., Rhineland, since before 2000.
