Africa - IACOVLEFF (Alexandre). Drawings and paintings of Africa executed during the Citroën Centre Afrique expedition, second Haardt Audouin-Dubreuil mission. Paris, Lucien Vogel chez Jules Meynial, 1927. In-folio of (15) pages; text bound in black silk, African-inspired decoration painted in red and white on the front cover (a few small spots on the first endpapers and the first 2 pages), the 50 plates in leaves, all in a publisher's flap wallet in basane, leather laces. Waxing on spine, a few small dark spots and fine scratches on boards. Inside of portfolio lightly pitted. First edition, illustrated with numerous sketches in the text and 50 color plates. Copy with text on Madagascar paper and plates on pure wove paper. N°28 printed for the Marquise de Chasseloup-Laubat. Minor spotting to lower corner of plate 1-2. Very small marginal tear on plate 17. Alexandre Iacovleff was chosen as the official painter of the Croisière noire, an expedition organized by André Citroën, which crossed Africa from one end to the other with autochenilles from October 1924 to June 1925. A good copy.

Illustrated with a portrait of Frederick Henry Charles, second son of the Prince of Prussia, a double-page engraved illustrated title, a watercolor folding map of northern Germany, 12 charming figures illustrating the months of the year, 6 folding tables in fine. Rare.

La jupe en coton épais teinte indigo, cousue aux extrémités, montre un décor de réserve (batik) de croisillons qui ressortent en bleu plus clair sur le fond (77 x 130). La petite veste indigo en coton épais à col montant, teinte indigo est de couleur plus foncée ; elle se ferme avec un rabat sur le côté droit par deux ligatures en coton, décor d’appliqué dont pièces rapportées de tissu imprimé (col, bordure). Sur le sac à bandoulière en coton et fibres, appliqués, rayures tissées (rouge, indigo) et pompons en laine rose clair (66 x 37 à plat).
