MF MANUFRANCE (1887 - ...) TYPO typewriter (1900-1940) in cast iron and steel from 1914 with ZHJAY configuration. The handle cover is inscribed "TYPO VISIBLE MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D'ARMES & CYCLES DE SAINT ETIENNE" with the MF logo of the factory. 1914 Box size: 40 x 31 x 23.5 cm (accidents) The ZHJAY system appeared in France in 1907, following the Albert Navarre commission's concern about the efficiency of the AZERTY keyboard (derived from QWERTY). It was a new keyboard standard developed for French. However, it failed to catch on and was soon abandoned, with only TYPO using the standard in 1914, as the company's sales catalog shows.
