Shikishiban. Signed Hachijuichi okina Zeshin. Titled Crows in Flight at Sunrise. Two crows fly against a brilliant orange sky, the tail of a third glimpsed to the left. SIZE of the sheet 24.5 x 26 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and minuscule soiling. This image of crows against a sunrise was originally published in the upper corner of a large Shijo surimono that was printed in 1887 and consisted mostly of rows of poetry. It was then made into a shikishiban print in about 1900. Museum comparison: Compare a related but earlier print in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum, accession number 2007.32.102.
