Important document concerning the slave revolt in Santo Domingo in August 1791 and the debate on the abolition of slavery in the National Assembly: "Détails importants, au sujet de la marche que doit tenir l'Assemblée nationale dans l'Affaire des Hommes de couleur, & réflexions sur la vigilance nécessaire pour le maintien de notre liberté." Slavery was abolished at the initiative of the government commissioners in August and September 1793, a measure that the Convention, in Paris, generalized under pressure from threats of English and Spanish intervention, to all French colonies by decree of February 4, 1794.
