Miss Belfort was portrayed by the artist Toulouse Lautrec many times, and was very famous for her singing performances at the Café des Décadents and the Petit Casino. Miss Belfort was also a friend of artist Jane Avril, and above all, a symbol of the effervescence of fin-de-siècle Paris.
