PASQUIER (Etienne). Les Recherches de la France [...] Paris, Pierre Ménard, 1643. In-folio (4 x 27 cm.), [14]-1019-[72] pp. with portrait-frontispiece, lettering and decorative caps. Glazed brown calf, ornate ribbed spine, Du Seuil-style decoration on covers, gilt edges (period binding). Discrete restorations to headpieces. Intermediate edition between the last one published during Pasquier's lifetime (1611) and the definitive version of 1665, which was used to establish the large collective edition of 1723 at the Amsterdam address (actually Trévoux) for the great work of the first historian of France. (Brunet IV, 207.). A magnificent copy on large, ruled paper.

[MARIE ADELAÏDE de France, dite Madame Adélaïde]. L'Office de la Semaine Sainte, en latin et en françois, à l'usage de Rome et de Paris, printed by order of Madame Marie-Adélaïde de France. Paris, Guillaume Desprez, 1755. In-12 red morocco, ribbed spine decorated with fleur-de-lys caissons, gilt title, triple gilt fillet framing the covers with gilt fleur-de-lys spandrels, gilt arms in the center of the covers, gilt edges (period binding). Modern handwritten ex-dono (April 17, 1932) "To my dear niece Marie Antoinette Se Marie Elisabeth". A fine copy bearing the coat of arms of Marie-Adélaïde de France, known as Madame Adélaïde (1732-1800), fourth (favorite) daughter and sixth child of Louis XV and Marie Leczinska, one of France's most famous female bibliophiles. The volumes belonging to Mesdames de France, daughters of Louis XV and Marie Leczinska, can only be distinguished by the color of the morocco on which their arms are stamped. Madame Adélaïde had hers in red morocco, Madame Victoire in green morocco, and Madame Sophie in lemon morocco. Madame Adélaïde's library, much larger than those of her sisters, comprised over 10,000 volumes, and was sold at auction during the French Revolution.

Large folio (55.5 x 39.5 cm) in publisher's wallet of garnet cloth with flaps, title stamped in gold on 1st board. Unique edition of 50 copies on Rives strong vellum paper. Complete suite of 4 original etchings, signed, by Agustin FERNANDEZ, Enrique ZEÑARTU, Gisèle CELAN-LESTRANGE, Jacques HÉROLD. Preceded by "Sept slogans ontophoniques", a poem by Gherasim LUCA in its original edition.

Contes et Nouvelles en vers. sl, sn, 1777. 2 vols. in-8 calf porphyre, ornate smooth spines, green titles and gilded headpieces, gilt roulette framing the covers, red speckled edges (period binding). Headbands worn, spine rubbed, corners slightly worn. Second counterfeit of the Fermiers Généraux edition published in 1762, illustrated with 2 frontispieces, 1 portrait and 80 out-of-text figures (the first figure of volume I is mistakenly bound at the beginning of volume II). Slight scattered foxing. Apart from minor binding defects, a fine copy.
