Pierre ROUSSEL (Paris 1723-1782) received Master in 1745 Chest of drawers from the transition period between Louis XV and Louis XVI with "Trophées de Musique et d'architecture" stamped on the back pillar and Paris Jurande hallmark. Inlaid with rosewood, amaranth, rosewood, sycamore and gilded bronzes. Comprising one row of drawers in the waistband and 2 rows of drawers in the lower section, served by a single lock. Oak frame 85 x 129 x 61 cm White marble top (missing) circa 1760 Pierre ROUSSEL received commissions from the Prince de Condé for the Palais Bourbon and the Château de Chantilly. Reproduced in François QUÉRÉ's book "Les Roussel, une dynastie d'ébénistes au XVIIIème siècle", page 170 (Fig.1). Certificate of appraisal dated October 2, 1987, by Mr. Charles CANET. Provenance: Drouot sale in 1995 and 2022.
