DOMSAITIS Pranas (1880- 1965). "Flight to Egypt". Oil on canvas, signed lower right, 73 x 62 cm. Slight damages. Framed. A Lithuanian painter who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Konisberg, DOMSAITIS was strongly influenced by his encounter with Edvard Munch. Considered a "degenerate artist" by the Nazis, his works were withdrawn from German museums. He continued his career using the Lithuanian version of his name. He spent the rest of his life in South Africa.
