Presumed portrait of Queen Marie Antoinette (1755-1793). Oval miniature, unsigned, depicting a young woman in bust, three-quarter right, in a light white dress and powdered wig. Vertical crack. In a fine 19th-century gilt bronze rectangular frame with sandblasted background, chased decoration of foliage, shells and a frieze of ovals, the oval view bordered by a laurel wreath, scroll-shaped suspension ring. 18th century H. 3.5 x W. 4.3 cm (when viewed). Frame: H. 13 x W. 11.5 cm.
