A SILK PAINTING: ‘PORTRAIT OF THE DRUNKEN LIBAI’ A SILK PAINTING: ‘PORTRAIT OF THE DRUNKEN LIBAI’ China, 20th century. Ink and watercolors on silk. Finely painted with the drunken poet Libai on a horse, while his attendant attempts to keep him from falling. Inscriptions: Upper left, ‘Portrait of the drunken Libai’, dated ‘a summer month of the year of Gengshen (probably 1920 or 1980)’, signed, and with two seal marks, the first ‘Guqing’. Provenance: Austrian private collection. The back with a collector’s note ‘Li Bai // Li Po 702-762’. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and few minuscule stains. Dimensions: Image size 38.5 x 28.8 cm, Size incl. frame 48.1 x 38.3 cm Framed behind glass.
