Original model by Midway MFG, with green cellophane strips on the screen to create color. This game was one of the first shoot'em ups in history, and left its mark on a whole generation of gamers. Its influence is unprecedented, thanks to a score-saving system. Several games were developed from Space Invaders, including Defender, Galaxian and Aero Fighters. In popular culture, many series use Space Invaders as a backdrop, and the game's aliens have become a well-known video game icon, inspiring the street artist Invader in his mosaics.
