Goldscheider Vienna Bust "Theodora" Design probably by Hans Schoerk c. 1899/1900, signed with pseudonym Cherc, sculpture mark c. 1900-1920, embossed model number 1994 194 5, light-coloured body painted in shades of brown and bronzed in gold, depicting the French actress Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923), the most famous actress of her time, as Théodora in the drama of the same name by Victorien Sardou (1831-1908), a woman's head rising from a goblet-shaped floral base with elaborate coiffure and helmet decoration, small hairline crack to the shoulder, heavily rubbed in places, rare figure in unrestored original condition, h 62 cm.
