QALLALINE, Tunis, Tunisia. Earthenware, painted decoration on stanniferous glaze. Large jar with two handles, ovoid body and cylindrical neck. Vegetal decoration This jar was decorated by Victor Chemla, as evidenced by the signature of a bunch of grapes on the lower part. Height: 42 cm. Note1: Qallaline or El Kallaline was the name of the potters' district in Tunis at the beginning of the 20th century. Victor Chemla was the eldest of three sons of Jacob Chemla, who founded his first workshop in Tunis in 1880,
