CHINA, DEHUA KILNS QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1661-1722) Pair of large statues in "Blanc-de-Chine" featuring Songzi Guanyin, standing on a rocky base, dressed in long flowing robes and cloaks, holding a child in their arms. Removable head with hair in a high bun with shells. H. 65 cm NOTE At the end of the 17th century, these imposing, elegant white porcelain figures were particularly sought-after by the European elite. These luxury objects embodied the West's taste for chinoiserie, taking pride of place in Chinese salons and cabinets. Similar pieces can be found in the collections of Auguste le Fort Fort in Dresden, but also in the Sans-Souci in Potsdam. A pair of very similar statues in the British Royal Collection ( RCIN 58987) are illustrated in AYERS John, "Chinese and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen", vol. 1, London, 2016, cat. nos. 37-42.

A RUSSIAN FABERGE WOODEN SILK-LINED CASE FOR A CIGARETTE HOLDER A wooden case for a Faberge cigarette holder. The interior is silk-lined with the maker's stamp in gold. Russia, ca. 1900. The case is in very good condition overall with expected minor signs of wear and age. The silk lining is very lightly worn. L: 4 7/8, W: 4, H: 1 14/ in., (L: 15.5, W: 10, H: 3.2 cm.)
