Description

Emblazoned silver sponge with unidentified punches AD possibly France, first half 18th century. At the top there is a blazon with a marquis crown and an openwork lid with decoration of palmettes and a wavy foot. The sponge dish model was already known in Paris before 1700 and they used to be manufactured in pairs consisting of a soap dish and a sponge dish. The soap dishes have the upper sphere completely closed and the sponge dishes have it open. Weight: 159.2 gr Height: 10 cm
