Secretaire Biedermeier, XIX century. Mahogany. Boxwood and lemongrass fillets. Marble on the top. It has a key. It shows marks of use and wear. Needs restoration. Measurements: 167 x 106 x 51 cm. Secretaire of Biedermeier style, in mahogany wood. It presents a sober and rounded structure in its clean volumes. Devoid of ornamentation except for the boxwood fillet that outlines the drawers of the chest of drawers and the lemongrass of the drawers of the secretaire, the marquetry tends to enhance the refined structure. It consists of two bodies, the lower one with a drawer unit and the upper one with a hinged lid that protects the drawers and the small drawer with a key lock. The turned front legs take the form of a spinning top, the only curvilinear element, together with the molded projection on the upper part. It culminates with a marble top. It shows a characteristic language of the Biedermeier style, which began as a simplified interpretation of Napoleon I's influential French Empire style.
