Amsterdam, s.n., 1782. 4 volumes in 2 vols. 9 by 15 cm. 180; 167; 160; 180 pages. Contemporary fawn half-basane, spine 4 bands, yellow ochre title page, with corners. Minor spotting to boards, not serious. Very good condition inside. Of the 17 editions listed by Brun for the date 1782, the first 11 - including the original - bear the name of the publisher Durand Neveu, and the following 6 have no publisher's name. Our copy corresponds to the 1st type of edition without publisher's name (known as "Edition L"). "Quite concentrated since it contains only 687 pages", it would have been published in France, contains a few errors and would be a "good copy of the second or third edition given by Durand Neveu". Despite its considerable (and well-deserved) success, 1782 editions of Les Liaisons dangereuses remain uncommon.
