JUAN RIBERA BERENGUER, (Valencia, 1935 - Valencia, 2016). "Old train station of Aragon, Valencia". Oil on paper. Signed in the lower right corner. Measurements: 89 x 174 cm; 104 x 189 cm (frame). Trained at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Valencia, Juan Ribera was a founding member of artistic groups such as Parpalló, Arte Actual and Movimiento Artístico del Mediterráneo. He has been part of the Valencian and Madrid artistic avant-garde, participating in the exhibitions of the Juan Mordó gallery. He exhibited individually at the Dirección General de Bellas Artes de Madrid (1969) and the Museo de la Ciudad de Valencia (1998), among other centers, and participated in important group exhibitions such as those held at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (1963), "Pintores figurativos de la España actual" (1964), which toured the United States, and the IVAM in Valencia. Throughout his career he has received pensions from the Diputación and the City Council of Valencia, the Casa Velázquez in Madrid and the March Foundation, and has been awarded the Valencia Prize at the Fine Arts Exhibition in Barcelona (1960), the Diputación de Valencia at the National Exhibition in Madrid (1968), the gold medal at the Salón de Marzo in Valencia (1977) and the Archival Prize for artistic merit (1995), among others. Ribera is represented in the San Pío V Museum of Valencia, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vilafamés, the Municipal Museum and the Circle of Fine Arts of Madrid, the Museum of Springfield (Massachusetts), the Cathedral, the Diputación, the Ateneo and the Museum of the City of Valencia, etc.

JUAN ALMELA (Valencia, 1883- Mexico City, 1970). Vase, 1929. Hand-painted ceramic. Signed and dated on the base. Measurements: 20 x 15 x 15 cm. In this vase the painter Juan Almela draws, on its front, a pavilion with the representation of Adam and Eve taking the forbidden fruit from the tree. The back is embellished with the representation of a satyr. Gold and cobalt blue tones complete the decoration.

Juan Vicente Macip, known as Vicente Macip, sometimes transcribed Masip or Maçip (Andilla, ca. 1475-Valencia, 1545) was a Spanish Renaissance painter, father of the illustrious painter Vicente Juan Macip, better known as Juan de Juanes. He is considered a painter of the 19th century influenced by the works of Paolo de San Leocadio and Rodrigo de Osona. The primitive 19th-century appearance of his early works is due to them, such as the Porta-Coeli altarpiece in the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia. The arrival in Valencia of some works by Sebastiano del Piombo will mark his later work, as is evident in the most notable of them, the old altarpiece of the main altar of the Segorbe cathedral, which he took charge of between 1529 and 1532, perhaps already counting on the collaboration of his son, which would explain the change in the orientation of his painting. The altarpiece of the Virgen del Remedio in the Church of San Bartolomé in Benicarló is also attributed to him. It is a painting with the Virgin and Child sitting on the throne, surrounded by different saints. The Prado Museum has, among others, two of his paintings in a circular format, representing the Visitation and the Martyrdom of Saint Agnes, painted for the chapel of Saint Thomas of Villanueva in the convent of Saint Julián in Valencia. Provenance: important private collection, El Viso, Madrid. which would explain the change in the orientation of his painting.
