Charley Paddock Signed Book - The Fastest Human American athlete and two-time Olympic champion (1900-1943) who earned gold medals at the 1920 Antwerp Games in the 100-meter and the 4 x 100-meter relay; he also earned a silver medal in the 200-meter at Antwerp, and a silver medal in the 200-meter at the 1924 Paris Olympiad. Paddock died in a plane crash near Sitka, Alaska, during World War II. Signed book: The Fastest Human. First edition. NY: Thomas Nelson & Sons, 1932. Hardcover with dust jacket, 7.5 x 9.5, 250 pages. "To Fred Garner, Best wishes —and here's hoping you some day win an Olympic Championship! Charley Paddock, Aug 14-'32." In very good to fine condition, with some light dampstaining to lower portion of signed page, and scattered wear to the dust jacket. Includes a rare lobby brochure for the 1925 film Nine and Three-Fifths Seconds, which starred Paddock as a fictionalized version of himself.

Beautiful hunting pinfire harquebus. Strong rifled barrel, slightly blunderbussed at the muzzle, with sights and folding single-leaf frog. Thunder stamped "I.G DAX". Inner wheel lock signed on the tail "IOANN GEORG DAX MUNCH-EN" and decorated with a finely engraved gallant scene. Dog, spring, inner spring cover plate of lock nicely chased with foliage scrolls in succession. Finger rest decorated in succession. Red fruitwood frame with drawer lined with two stag bone plates engraved with a castle and rabbit on a landscaped background, enriched with foliage. Deer antler buttplate marked "1562". Stock and barrel decorated with a deer antler fillet and plaques en suite. Wooden ramrod with deer antler tip. B.E. Circa 1730. Iann Georg DAX in Munich. 1714-1743
