1947 HOTCHKISS Grégoire Chassis number 517 ERRATUM: Sold without registration. One of the first produced 25088 km on the odometer Front bumper missing Sold without MOT 3500 / 6500€ During the war, Grégoire took an interest in aluminum and, with the help of Aluminium Français, designed a popular little car under the name AFG (Aluminium Français Grégoire), which would become, not without difficulty, the Panhard Dyna X. This solution was used again for the Hotchkiss Gregoire, with the use of Alpax (for the chassis) and aluminum (for the bodywork) guaranteeing low weight. Its suspensions are highly sophisticated, thanks to independent front and rear wheels with variable-flexion coil springs. It's a front-wheel-drive car with an unprecedented engine: a 4-cylinder, flat-bottom 1,998 cc, 64 hp engine - respectable power for its time, especially as the car weighed just 1,060 kg - and a 4-speed gearbox (1st non-synchronized and 4th overdrive). Bendix-Lockheed brakes are hydraulically operated. The wheels are aluminum. The design is in keeping with the times, with a record Cx and remarkably low fuel consumption for the size of the vehicle (4.65 meters). Its front tracks are wider than the rear (144 cm vs. 132), 8 years ahead of the Citroën DS. Last but not least, the price was mind-boggling: 1,200,000 Francs when a Citroën 11 Normale cost 461,000 Francs and the 15-6 version (16 HP) 636,470 Francs. By June 1951, the price had risen to 1,490,000 Francs, but industrialization problems persisted, forcing the brand to raise its prices sharply in order to limit breakage. At the Paris Motor Show in October, the price for a Hotchkiss-Grégoire had risen to 1,800,000 francs. This makes it a very interesting vehicle, both historically and in terms of its originality and mechanical advances. The car has undergone an initial restoration to replace the wooden frame on the doors. It is in good overall original condition, with original upholstery. The front bumper is missing.
