The Besserat House was founded in 1843 in Aÿ by Edmond Besserat. From the beginning, he decided to distribute his champagne in hotels, restaurants and wine shops. In 1920, Edmond Besserat (second name and grandson of the founder) marries Yvonne Méric de Bellefon. From this union, the house Besserat de Bellefon takes its current name. Aÿ is a wine-producing commune in the center-west of the Marne department and the Champagne-Ardenne region, near Epernay.
