Du Pont de Nemours, in his weekly journal Correspondance patriotique entre les citoyens qui ont été membres de l'Assemblée nationale constituante (vol. II, no. VII, pp. 9-20), gave a fairly favorable review of these two brochures: "These two pamphlets, by a very well-educated man who writes with great facility, do not entirely fulfill their title. Assignats are discussed, but not more particularly than the other subjects the author reviews, the main ones being the organization of the Ministry of Finance, that of the committees of the National Assembly, the balance to be established between revenue and expenditure, and a fairly severe critique of the operations of the National Constituent Assembly on all these points." (1st paragraph of the article).
