WWII Poster. GEORGET. Journées Nationales du Souvenir. Compiègne 15 au 18 Août 1946. Colored poster, 120 x 80 cm. French flag at top. Typographical data at bottom. Good condition. Colored poster celebrating the national day of remembrance held in Compiègne from 15 to 18 August 1946. The lithographic poster depicts four men embracing: one in military clothing, one in a helmet, one in the clothes of a rural worker and a flat cap, and a bald man in the striped clothes of a concentration camp prisoner. Behind them is a desolate and destroyed landscape, typical of urban scenes after bombings. At the bottom of the illustration, the organizing bodies of the event are listed.Guy Georget (1911 - 1992) was a French artist, cartoonist, long active in the creation of tourist propaganda posters.
