Nautical chart of the Brazilian coast between Cabo Frio in the State of Rio de Janeiro and Porto Seguro in the State of Bahia.The map was drawn up thanks to the military expeditions of the French Navy in 1819 led by Baron Albin Roussin, commissioned by the king for the hydrographic exploration of the coasts of Africa and Brazil.

Attached are 3 loose maps illustrating Histoire des Ducs de Bourgogne by Barante, and an 18th c. map showing trigonometric surveys of Île-de-France, probably by R. Bonne (stained). Enclosed: - [Atlas]. Companion to Geography for children... a new edition. London, printed for J. Johnson, 1807. In-folio, navy blue half-percaline, late 19th c., brown basane title-piece on spine (pale angular flecking on 3 plates, qq. russ.). Atlas of 11 engraved plates with colored borders, some double: World, Europe, England, Scotland, Ireland, Asia, India, Africa, North America, West Indies, South America. Probably intended to illustrate a textbook; some maps bear the dates 1793, 1796 or 1799, others have been erased. 2 volumes.
