Edouard MACAVOY (1905-1991). Preparatory study for the portrait of André Gide, Juan-les-Pins, 1949. Charcoal drawing signed lower left. 45 x 30. Created in Juan-les-Pins, in a villa rented by Gide for the summer, and carefully supervised by him, it gave rise to numerous preparatory studies and four other versions in oil that did not satisfy him.
