Chinese Nichols Art Deco wool carpet. The carpet features a blue and red border, decorated with asymmetrical floral designs that extend into the central golden tan ground. Marked with two characters along the edge. Length: 11 ft 7 in x width: 9 ft.

Keschan carpet (cotton warp and weft, wool pile), central Persia, north of Isfahan, circa 1940-1970. The rug features a central red poly-lobed medallion, extended by two pendants, on a navy blue background enhanced by an elegant polychrome stylized floral design. The entire composition is embellished with four large red spandrels. A wide red border with flower garlands is framed by two counter-borders. 380 x 260 cm (Slight wear and fraying). Kechan was an early town renowned for its mulberry tree cultivation and silk spinning. Kechan's fabrics and shawls were renowned during the Sefevid period (16th-18th century), and many "Polish" carpets were woven here. In the second half of the 19th century, Kechan once again played an important role in Persian quality carpet production, thanks in particular to Mostashem, the weaver who gave his name to quality carpets.
